Budgets and quotas
Personal keys use the personal wallet. Team keys check both project and key budgets. Use the current budget and spent values in the console; do not assume a workspace wallet, automatic daily/monthly resets or default budget alerts.
Budget exhaustion normally returns 402: distinguish INSUFFICIENT_BALANCE, PROJECT_BUDGET_EXCEEDED and KEY_BUDGET_EXCEEDED. Stop abnormal tasks and review consumption before recharging or raising budgets. Do not retry indefinitely.
Use separate development, production, batch and Agent keys with model restrictions and limits. Monetary budgets do not increase RPM, TPM, concurrency or upstream capacity. Monitor spend rate and bound Agent turns/tool calls in your application.
